Here at Morrin Dental, we cannot stress the importance of preventative dentistry enough! A continued daily regimen to ensure optimal oral health is an integral part of your dental health plan. That is why we have compiled 7 daily preventative measures you should take in order to maintain your dental health:
Brush your teeth: It’s important that you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day, usually after meals and before bed to prevent plaque and tooth decay.
Flossing: Make sure your daily routine includes cleaning between your teeth with either dental floss or an interdental cleaner.
Nutrition: Eat healthy meals, brushing after each meal whenever possible.
Snacks: Avoid in-between-meal snacking, especially candies, chips and sticky food items that can stick to your teeth.
Supplements: Supplemental fluorides can strengthen your teeth. Ask your dentist about them today.
Sealants: Sealants can protect molars and back teeth from tooth decay. Consult your dentist to see if this is the right preventative treatment for you.
In addition to these daily preventative treatment measures, it is important to continue regular dental visits, usually every 6 to 12 months, depending on your oral health needs. At Morrin Dental, we offer patients an Active Maintenance program to help maintain your healthy teeth. Your dental hygienist and dentist will work with you to create an individualized, patient-led preventative plan catering to your specific health history and oral needs. These maintenance visits will include:
A medical history review.
Tooth check for wear &/or decay.
Address any dental concerns.
Asses for gum disease.
X-rays, if needed.
Oral cancer screening.
Jaw joint check.
Teeth & gum cleaning: removal of any stains and bacteria under the gums that are unreachable with brushing alone.
Fluoride placement: to aid in preventing tooth decay.
At Morrin Dental, we want our patients to feel comfortable with their dental treatment.
