Dr Mark Morrin – BDS (Syd)
Mark is a dental surgeon and the principal of Morrin Dental.
Born and raised in the area, Mark has lived in Newcastle his whole life except for a brief stint studying for a Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the University of Sydney, which he completed in 1994.
In 1997, after a number of years working in private practices around Newcastle, Mark decided to purchase a respected and established practice from Dr Jim Todhunter and Morrin Dental was formed.
Mark’s commitment to staying at the forefront of industry developments and procedures can be attested to his regular attendance at dental conferences across all fields of dentistry. Highly regarded in the practice of general and cosmetic dentistry and actively involved in the dental community, Mark has recently been elected to act on the Newcastle Branch Committee of the Australian Dental Association.
Dr David Noonan – BDS (Ncl UK)
David joined the team at Morrin Dental as a dental surgeon in 2010.
Hailing from Newcastle upon Tyne in the north east of England, David obtained his degree in dental surgery there in 1998. He practised dentistry in the UK for a number of years before deciding to take a break to travel the world, one of the destinations being Australia. Returning from his trip and back to practising dentistry in the UK, David made the decision to emigrate to Australia in late 2005, settling here in Newcastle with his family.
Dr Agnes Zhao – BDS (Otago NZ)
Agnes grew up in New Zealand where she attained a Bachelor Of Dental Surgery with distinction from the University of Otago.
The sprawling beaches and coastal lifestyle quickly attracted her to Newcastle where she enjoys living.
She feels right at home at Morrin Dental after joining in 2016, surrounded by the most skilled group of health professionals who share the same values that underline her dentistry – highest quality treatment tailored to individual patients with their needs and oral health being of upmost importance.
In her down time she enjoys going for long runs and loves taking part in local and interstate running festivals.
Dr Anna Morrell – BDSc BSC (Hons) (CSU)
Originally from Newcastle and a long time patient of Morrin Dental, Anna graduated from her dental studies in 2013.
She completed an additional year of research in the immunology of basal cell carcinoma and was subsequently awarded a Bachelor of Science with first class honours.
Anna has previously worked in Byron Bay and Melbourne, where she was involved in teaching students at the University of Melbourne dental school.
Returning to Newcastle at the end of 2019, Anna joined Morrin Dental to work with her mentor Mark.
She is a warm, empathic dentist who takes an interest in caring for patients with dental anxiety. Specific areas of interest also include general restorative dentistry, root canal therapy and crown and bridge work. Her treatment philosophy is based on preventative dentistry and her goal is to work together with each patient to address their individual needs.
Outside of dentistry, Anna is enjoying life back in Newcastle catching up with friends and family and spending time at the beach.
Jaimie McWhirter – BOHT – Oral Health Therapist
After completing her Bachelor of Oral Health degree at CSU in 2016, Jaimie spent a year in Brisbane before moving to Newcastle. Growing up in Port Macquarie Jaimie has always loved the coast and was keen to get back to it.
Jaimie decided on a career in oral health as she believes preventative care is vital for a happy and healthy life. Jaimie approaches each patient with an individual goal in mind and loves working with patients to achieve or maintain their oral health. Jaimie loves to have a chat with her patients as she works and get to know them and their families.
In her spare time Jaimie loves hanging out with her two goofy greyhounds.
Erika Mitchell – BOHT – Oral Health Therapist
Erika is one of our invaluable, highly skilled Oral Health Therapists at Morrin Dental.
Erika studied a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy at the University of Newcastle graduating in 2019.
Erika’s goal is to improve the oral health of all her patients through prevention and education! She takes pride in building strong relationships with all of her patients and has a special interest in the treatment of children.
In her spare time, Erika enjoys travelling, spending time with family and friends and doing Pilates.
