Zoom In-office Teeth Whitening System and DayWhite take home tooth whitening.

ZOOM In-office Teeth Whitening

The Zoom teeth whitening system utilises a dual-barrelled syringe, which delivers a 25% Hydrogen Peroxide Gel solution which is activated by light during your 90 minute appointment.

The Zoom In-office Teeth Whitening procedure includes the following steps to ensure maximum effectiveness along with optimal safety measures.

  1. Application of lip cream to protect any soft tissues.
  2. A retractor, safety glasses, face bib and liquid to protect your skin against the gel and from light exposure.
  3. The whitening gel is placed on the designated teeth.
  4. The light is placed in position for the first 20 minute cycle.
  5. After each cycle, the gel is removed and reapplied to the teeth.
  6. Steps 2-4 are repeated for 3 cycles.
  7. 1.1% Neutral Sodium Fluoride is placed on the teeth for 5 minutes and then removed.

Light sensitive individuals, including those undergoing PUVA therapy (Psoralen+UV radiation) or other photochemotherapy, and patients with Melanoma should not undergo the Zoom In-office procedure. Patients taking any light sensitive drugs be it over the counter, prescription or homeopathic should consult their physician prior to the procedure.

Some individuals will experience sensitivity for 24-48 hours after the Zoom procedure, which can be reduced by:

  • Applying GC Tooth mousse for 60 minutes a day for 7 days post-procedure.
  • Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
  • Take an analgesic, like ibuprofen as directed, the night of the procedure.

For maximum results, avoid foods with colouration for 48 hours after the completion of the Zoom procedure. A Zoom take home kit or Day White kit may be used to further enhance the result or to re-invigorate the smile at a later date.
