How to Maintain Good Oral Health

  • Age
  • Medications
    • Bisphosphonates (Fosamax/Actonel)
    • Anticoagulants (Warfarin)
  • Diet
  • Erosion
  • Saliva flow

    • Pregnancy
    • Sjorgens syndrome
    • Asthma
    • Scleroderma
    • Heart disease

To help us provide you with the tools for long-term oral health, we tailor a specific plan for your active maintenance. This plan includes:

  • Reviewing your medical history
  • Addressing any concerns you may have about your teeth
  • Checking all tooth surfaces for wear and/or decay
  • Assessing for gum disease
  • X-rays (if required)
  • Screening for oral cancer
  • Checking jaw joints
  • Cleaning teeth and gums thoroughly to remove staining and bacteria from under the gums, which cannot be reached with brushing alone
  • Placement of fluoride to prevent decay
  • Reviewing at home dental care regimes
  • Suggestions on how teeth can be improved
  • Providing a plan for long-term health, guided by you

A dental hygienist is an oral health professional specialising in the prevention of oral disease. The completion of a three-year University Degree in Oral Health is required for this specialist area.

Morrin Dental is proud to incorporate dental hygienists into our active maintenance program to provide the gold standard of care to each and every patient.

As with all of our services, we are guided by our patients. We believe our role is to provide suitable options unique to patient circumstances to maintain optimum oral health. We will support any decisions you make regarding your oral health care to ensure you are always comfortable with our services.
